Backspin Magazine report from the hip-hop celebration @ EXIT Festival 2023
Remember back in July when we were celebrating both 50 years of hip-hop and 30 years of Blackout Hip Hop at EXIT Festival? We definitely didn’t forget the massive energy by thousands of people that came to Novi Sad, Serbia, to jump with the legends Wu-Tang Clan and Onyx, but also some of the region’s finest like Smoke Mardeljano, Bolesna Braća, Prti Bee Gee, and more. The celebration of hip-hop’s 50th birthday was off the charts and now, about five months later or so we have another chance to recap some of the moments from the festival, but this time from the perspective of our German colleague Niko; a journalist and head of the BACKSPIN magazine.
As you may know, since the early days of hip-hop Germany has been one of the first European countries to embrace the culture and provide some of the top notch artists of various kind. The tradition of fine hip-hop in Germany continues to this very day, above and beyond, and BACKSPIN is one of those portals that know how to get the job done. With Niko visiting the festival, he threw a few comments about what’s going on, but also conducted a few interesting interviews that includes Mimi Mercedes, Bege Fank and Skubi, Blackout‘s Phat Phillie and Re:tro flava, DJ Goce, and also with Fredro and Sticky from Onyx.
Shout out to BACKSPIN’s whole crew!
