Album Review: Erick Sermon – Vernia

If any of you forgot about Erick Sermon, you shouldn’t have. The first letter of legendary EPMD has been funking it up, and eventually ended up with his 8th solo album called Vernia. It took him four years to make it but make no mistake, this is a serious release. From the production side of the project, Sermon got a few colleagues to help him out. Rockwilder, Ty Fyffe, DJ Battlecat, Apathy (to name a few) cooked up some serious grooves for a large diapason of MC’s that are also featured on the album. Keith Murray, Xzibit, Raekwon & Too $hort are just a few names, but Erick was the only one who managed to get legendary Shaquille O’Neal on a track after so many years of not spitting (we heard thru the grapevine that Zagreb homie Koolade originally did this beat for Erick, but unfortunately it didn’t make the final cut).

The album is a nice refreshment, both musically and lyrically and is most definitely worth of your time. Vernia has tracks to break your neck to, jam out to, chill out and even make babies to. Def Squad is back for the year 2019!
